Anna Mae (Hollar) Bowman Dellinger
Dellinger, Anna Mae (Hollar) Bowman (1927-2007)
Portrait of Anna Mae (Hollar) Bowman Dellinger as a young woman with a flower in her hair.
Anna Mae was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, but moved to Shenandoah County as a young child. Her parents were Aden Albert Hollar and Catherine Rebecca Fadeley. By 1940, she lived with her widowed mother, older brother, and grandmother (Julia A. Fadeley) on a farm west of Edinburg.
She married Harold Bishop Bowman (1922-1982) in October 1946. His parents were Boyd Miley and Virginia Pearl (Grandstaff) Bowman. At that time, she was a 19-year old beautician and her husband was a laborer. They had two children together before divorcing in 1961.
In 1977, Anna Mae married again. Dwight Elmo Dellinger (1919-2003) was born in Virginia to Charles Cecil and Nellie Verl (Will) Dellinger. He was a widow living in Edinburg when he and Anna Mae married.
Both are buried in Edinburg.

Mary was the only child of Franklin Schmucker (1871-1963) and Sarah Fletcher (Supinger) (1870-1953) Bowman. She never married and was very active in her church, Emmanuel Lutheran.

Eunice Virginia Bowman Miller
Miller, Eunice Virginia Bowman (1942-2001)
Photograph of Eunice Virginia Bowman Miller as a young girl.
Eunice was the daughter of Paul Raymond and Grace Virginia (Airhart) Bowman from the Ashby Lee District of Shenandoah County.
When she married in 1968, she worked as a seamstress for the Windsor Knits Company in Edinburg. Her new husband, Fred Richard Miller (1929-2020) was a farmer living in Mt. Jackson. His parents were Hugh Clarence and Beulah Bell (Guess) Miller.
The couple lived in Edinburg for most of their married lives. They had at least one daughter, Melissa.

Angelo Bowman
Bowman, Angelo (1896-1959)
Photograph of Angelo Bowman as a young man.
Angelo was from Fort Valley, a son of James Samuel (1876-1947) and Adeline "Addie" Melvina (McClanahan) (1880-1918) Bowman.
He married a young widow, Myrtle P. (Nicholson) Haun in May 1917. She had a son, Harry, and was the daughter of Josh and Susan Nicholson.
The 1920 census found Angelo, Myrtle, and Harry living in the Johnston Township where Angelo worked at a saw mill.
Angelo spent the bulk of his life farming. When he died, he and his wife lived in the Edinburg area. By then, he was reported to be a "retired farmer".
In addition to his step son, Harry, Angelo had a daughter, Louise, and a son, Kenneth.

Myron was the grandson of Isaiah and Annie (Fravel) Bowman.
His parents were Myron Milton Bowman, Sr. (1878-1943) and Anabel (Santmiers) Bowman (1880-1965).
He married Stella Virginia (Hepner) Bowman (1906-1974) and had two daughters, Betsy and Phyllis.

Alvin "Buddy" Lucas
Lucas, Alvin Leslie (1928-1999)
Photograph of Alvin “Buddy” Leslie Lucas as a teenager, in glasses and wearing a cardigan over his shirt and tie.
Buddy was born in Saumsville, to Ezra Lee (1878-1958) and Susie V. (Seal) (1891-1976) Lucas. His father farmed and had been married before. Both of his parents were born in Luray, Virginia. In the 1940 census, however, the family lived in Woodstock where his father worked in an orchard.
Buddy married Elva Virginia Guess in 1951. She was the daughter of Seymour Walton (1909-1998) and Dora V. (Bowman) (1904-1979) Guess. Their application to marry was published in the Evening Star Newspaper in Washington, D.C. on June 23rd, 1951. Probably, they both lived there at that time.
Buddy and his wife are buried together in the Cedarwood Cemetery in Edinburg.

Postcard showing what was identified as "Harmony Hall (Fort Bowman)" in Strasburg Virginia. The card has a copyright date of 1935 and contains the caption "'Harmony Hall' (Fort Bowman) Strasburg, Virginia. Oldest House in Shenandoah County. Built in 1752-3-4."
Constructed ca. 1753 for George Bowman, the structure now called simply Fort Bowman, it is one of the oldest homes surviving structures in Shenandoah County. Apart for a small Greek Revival portico addition, the house is almost unchanged from its original Germanic stone design.
The home is located along an undisturbed section of the Old Valley Pike and its graveyard contains the burial sites of Isaac Bowman who assisted George Rogers Clark and Samuel Kerchval, early Shenandoah Valley Historian.

Bowman, Charlotte Josephine (1916-2006)
Photographic postcard showing "Charlotte Josephine Bowman." The card is labeled "age 5, Xmas Greetings to Aunt Sarah" which dates it to December 1921.
Charlotte was born August 14 1916 in Shenandoah County Virginia. Her parents were Milton H. Bowman and Georgia F. Kibler. She died January 17, 2006 in Bennington Vermont.
