Description
An account of the resource
According to the Shenandoah Valley Herald "Cooking is Peggy Keller's hobby, baking cakes and decorating them is her specialty."
A resident of Toms Brook, she gained experience baking from her time in high school, working at local restaurants, and feeding her family. Part of her secret was doing things the “old fashioned way” including keeping a cow for fresh milk and home churned butter.
In addition to baking, Peggy volunteered with the county Republican Committee’s Women’s Club, the Toms Brook Elementary School PTA, and other organizations.

Morrison, James
Description
An account of the resource
In 1899 Hugh Morrison Jr. opened a photograph studio on W. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer.
Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives.
In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized.
This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs.
Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028.
This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate.

An account of the resource
Portrait of Delford E. Keckley and Dorothy Didawick taken about the time of their first wedding. Possibly, this is their wedding photograph.
Delford and Dorothy Didawick married on August 22, 1941. They had a daughter, Margaret, in 1944. Sometime after that, they divorced. However, in November 1963, they married each other again. Their son, Bill, was born sometime during this time. This second attempt at their marriage ended in divorce on March 19, 1974.
The next day Dorothy married another man, Ashby Edwards. That marriage lasted until February 23, 1983, when they divorced.
Dorothy died only a few years later.
Delford E. was the son of Earl William and Wilmouth (Cook) Keckley. He is buried in Saint Stephens Cemetery near Strasburg Junction.
