Hattie and Kirby Lee Foltz
Foltz, Kirby Lee (1901-1984)
Foltz, Hattie Rebecca Miller (1906-1995)
Photograph of Hattie Rebecca (Miller) Foltz posed on the arm of a chair next to her husband, Kirby Lee Foltz.
Hattie R. (Miller) Foltz was the daughter of Milton and Rebecca Miller, from Jerome. She completed the 7th grade and married Kirby in April 1924, in Orkney Springs.
Kirby Lee Foltz was also from Jerome, the son of Thomas Franklin Foltz (1876-1966) and Elizabeth (Bowers) Foltz (1874-1954). He had many siblings growing up.
The couple farmed for many years and had no children. When Kirby registered for the WWII draft in 1942, he was over 40 years old and reported he had no phone. He was described as being 5’11” tall and 155 pounds.
By 1950, Kirby had taken a job as a laborer with the State Highway Department. Years later, when he retired, he was a foreman. Both Kirby and Hattie are buried together in Jerome.

Studio portrait of three Dellinger brothers: (l to r) Tuck, Marshall, and Clyde Dellinger. Their parents were Mantonia and Gertie Selena (Mumaw) Dellinger.

Marshall served in the United States Army Air Corps in Europe during World War II attaining the rank of Sergeant in the 92nd Bomb Group 'H', flying in the rugged B-17 Flying Fortress, one of the more than 16,000 B-17s produced throughout the war. Tragically, he was killed while flying a mission over Belgium in 1945.

He married Iona Marie Sine in February 1938. She was the daughter of Seward Stanley (1894-1964) and Irene Contantine (Fleming) (1898-1983) Sine of Liberty Furnace.

His son, Larry Sine Foltz, Sr., graduated from Edinburg High School in 1959. Right after, he joined the U.S. Army and completed his basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. The Northern Virginia Daily reported on October 13, 1959, that he was spending eight weeks of advanced individual artillery training at The Artillery and Missile Center in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The purpose was to learn the duties of a cannoneer in a 105-millimeter howitzer section.
In 1966, after his military service, he married Marie Estell Boyce, born in Strasburg to Arthur Robert and Mary Elizabeth (Feller) Boyce. She lived in Edinburg and was a seamstress. At that time, Larry was a truck driver. He lived in Woodstock when he died.
