Portrait of Dr. F. Wilson Gearing, Sr., a well-known physician from Woodstock.
His parents were Marcellus and Mary (Santmiers) Gearing. Frank Wilson Gearing, Sr., was born in about 1892 and married his first wife, Bertha Whalley in 1917. They had two sons together: Frank Gearing Jr. and John K. Gearing.
Bertha died in 1966 and Dr. Gearing married again in 1971 to Jessie Smoot. He died in 1978.

United States. Army. Infantry Division, 29th
Portrait of Lt. Edward Gearing in his U.S. Army uniform. He was born in Woodstock in 1925, enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 28, 1942, became an officer, and was assigned to the 29th Infantry Division. This unit was part of the D-Day landing on June 6, 1944. Gearing was awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and his entire Division was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation because of his actions. During this action, Edward Gearing was wounded three times and did not recover until the end of the war. After his discharge, he worked for the U.S. State Department. He died in 1963.
