She was the daughter of Roy and Rosa (Rhodes) Hockman and married William F. Clarke. They lived in the Richmond area for much of their married lives.

Helsley, Charlotte Frances Bauserman (1922-1997)
Charlotte Bauserman as a young woman sitting on a stone bench.
Charlotte was the daughter of George Washington and Martha Belle (Compton) Bauserman. The 1930 census found her living in Clarke County with her parents and two sisters, Helen and Martha. Her father worked in an orchard there.
In 1948, when she married Elmer Arthur Helsley, Jr. (1918-1989), she lived in Woodstock and worked as a Secretary at the American Viscose Plant (the plant later became Avtex Fibers) in Front Royal. Her husband was a farmer, son of Elmer A. and Mattie (Hockman) Helsley. It appears they spent the rest of their lives in Woodstock and had at least two daughters: Sandra Fay Helsey and Sherry Norma Helsley.

Photograph of June Ogden Bauserman as a toddler. June was born in Maurertown to Harlin Ray and Thelma (Estep) Bauserman. The 1940 census found June living in the Johnston District with her parents and two older brothers.
She married Larry Ott Hockman (1928-2002) in September 1953. Larry was also from Maurertown, the son of Franklin and Florine (Sine) Hockman. When they married, Larry worked as an electrician and June worked as a secretary. They both lived in Maurertown.
Together, the couple had at least two children: Thad Sine and Cheryl Lynn Hockman.

Their parents were Harold and Kathleen (Poindexter) Hockman of Strasburg.
June Hockman was a nurse working in Winchester when she met and married Anthony V. Passeretti in January 1954. He was a doctor born in Troy New York. The couple spent most of their time together in New York and had at least one son there. June died in Sarasota Springs, New York.
Her brother, Judson D. Hockman, attended Lynchburg College and became a teacher as a young man. He lived Falls Church when he married Nell Marie Crowley, also a teacher, in 1952. From 1953-1956, he served in the U.S. Army. The couple divorced in October 1973 and two months later, Judson married Celeste W. Morris Cocherham, a 31-year old divorcee, at the Disciples of Christ Church on High Street in Strasburg. The couple lived in Fairfax County. Judson was no longer teaching and worked as the Director of the Town of Vienna’s Parks & Recreation Department. He worked there about 15 years before resigning in March 1981. He died later that same year, at just 49 years old.

Mrs. Dellinger was born in Linden, the daughter of Jesse Hockman Sr. and Freda Hockman. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Virginia and Russell Hollar.
She was married to the late Laco Lee Dellinger (1927-2011). They lived in the Edinburg area for much of their lives.
Ellen worked as an x-ray technician, managed Mobile X-Ray, and spent 40+ years in the Medical field.
She also was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Jerome, loved to cook, authored cookbooks and was an avid artist.
Ellen and her husband raised a family of two sons, Jeff and Steve.

Mrs. Dellinger was born February 11, 1934 in Linden, Virginia. She was the daughter of the late Jesse Hockman Sr. and Freda (Seal) Hockman. She was raised by her aunt and uncle, Virginia and Russell Hollar.
She married Laco Lee Dellinger (1927-2011) and, together, they had two sons, Jeff and Steve.
She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Strasburg. She loved to cook and was considered a gourmet. She even authored cookbooks. She was also an avid artist.

Martha (Hockman) Rennie
Rennie, Martha (Hockman) (1931- )
Portrait of Martha Hockman Rennie as a young woman posed in studio.
Martha was from Strasburg, the daughter of Chester Mason (1901-1968) and Catherine Romaine (Hottle) (1913-1966) Hockman. She graduated from Strasburg High School in 1949 and then went on to the Beauty School of Woodrow Wilson in Staunton, Virginia.
In 1951, she married John Fravel Rennie, who had also graduated from Strasburg High School in 1949. He grew up on B Street, the son of J.P. and Lucy M. Rennie. His father was a carpenter.
The couple married in Hagerstown, Maryland, in a double ceremony with a second Strasburg couple, Peggy Crabill and Leroy Fishel.
At the time of her marriage, Martha worked at the Clements Beauty Parlor in Woodstock and her husband worked for the National Fruit Company in Winchester.
Martha and John had at least three daughters together: Carolyn Marie, Susan Gail, and Patricia Dianne Rennie.
In January 2024, the couple celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary at their home on Junction Road, Strasburg.

Isaac Milton Hockman
Hockman, Isaac Milton (1854-1924)
Portrait of Isaac Milton Hockman, teacher and Justice of the Peace in Shenandoah County.
Isaac was born in Slanesville, Hampshire County, West Virginia, to Philip and Diadem (Daughterty) Hockman.
In 1878, he married Annetta (Murphy) (1856-1931) in Tomahawk Springs, Berkeley County, West Virginia. The couple met while Isaac was teaching school there.
They lived on a farm near Maple Run and had at least nine children of their own in addition to a couple they took in and raised as their own.
Isaac was a teacher, a Justice of the Peace, and a staunch Presbyterian during his life.
He is buried in Slanesville, West Virginia.

Mary Ellen (Hockman) Pickelsimer

Portrait of Mary Ellen Hockman as a young woman. Mary Ellen was the daughter of Henry and Katherine (Boyde) Hockman from the Maurertown/Woodstock area.
She was a 25-year old stenographer living in Richmond when she married Lionel Dean Pickelsimer in November 1952. Lionel was from Brevard, North Carolina and his parents were Deroy N. and Nancy E. (Bryson) Pickelsimer. He was in the U.S. Navy at the time.
Mary Ellen was living in Connecticut when she died in her early 30's.
She left behind two children: Neal Kevin and Lynn Ellen Pickelsimer.

Portrait of Joseph Henry Kelley in his later years.
Joseph was born in Edinburg, the 2nd son of Patrick and Belle (Hockman) Kelley.
He married Mary Donaldson Davis (1870-1923), daughter of Josiah W. and Sidney Davis in 1889 in Edinburg. They couple moved to Brunswick, Maryland, between 1906 and 1910 where he worked for the railroad as a brakeman and conductor. The couple owned their home outright by 1910.
After his first wife died, Joseph married again. His second wife was Mabel (Dillow) Frye (1909-1980).
Joseph died as the result of an automobile accident in 1942. He is buried with his first wife in Woodstock.

Laura was from Fisher’s Hill near Strasburg. Her parents were John Henry (1850-1927) and Emma Catherine (Hockman) (1853-1937) Keller.
She married Sidney Baker (1867-1950) in April 1891. Sidney was also from Fisher’s Hill and worked as a clerk at that time. His parents were Joseph (1830-1904) and Elizabeth (Stoner) (1834-1884) Baker.
The couple stayed in Fisher’s Hill and raised at least five children together. Later censuses list Sidney’s occupation as farmer.
