Silas D. Kibler was the son of James Allen (1864-1949) and Mary Catherine (Hisey) (1863-1939) Kibler. He was from Woodstock and married Susie (Smoot) (1906-1991) Kibler.
Silas worked as a machinist for the Blue Bell Company, a clothing manufacturer in Mt. Jackson, for 42 years before he retired in 1972. He and his wife had two children: Rosemary Ann (Kibler) Dinges (1931-2015) and James Albert Kibler (1933-2023).

Walter C. Wisman was a farmer in the Woodstock area of Shenandoah County. He was the son of Josiah Wisman and Annie D. Smoot.
Irene was the daughter of Daniel T. and Jennie Saum. She lived in Woodstock when she died.
James E. Wisman married Lois W. Wetzel in 1945. It was the second marriage for both of them. James worked at the American Viscose Corporation for many years and was a retired lab technician residing in Maurertown when he died unexpectedly as the result of an automobile accident.

Walter C. Wisman was a farmer in the Woodstock area of Shenandoah County. He also sold fire insurance for a time. He was the son of Josiah Wisman (1854-1925) and his first wife, Annie D. Smoot (1860-1892). His father had been well-known and respected for his work in education and as Chairman of the Shenandoah County School board.
Walter’s wife, Irene, was the daughter of Daniel T. (1842-1927) and Jennie (Saum) (1842-1912) Saum. Irene lived in Woodstock when she died.
James E. Wisman married Lois W. Wetzel in 1945. It was the second marriage for both of them. James worked at the American Viscose Corporation for many years and retired as a lab technician. He was living in Maurertown when he died unexpectedly as the result of an automobile accident.
Helen Lucille Wisman married John Ligouri Logsdon in 1946 in Washington D.C. In the 1950 census for D.C., John worked as a bus driver and Helen was a secretary for the U.S. Air Force. Both are buried together in the Mount Zion Lutheran Church Cemetery in Alonzaville.
Calvin S. Wisman graduated from Woodstock High School then received his college degree in agricultural education from Virginia Tech, class of 1940. In June of 1940, he volunteered for active duty in the U.S. Army and served until he retired as a Colonel in 1964. Following his Army retirement, he worked for 15 years in the civil service, mostly as a Security Manager at Fort Monroe in Hampton, Virginia.
Calvin’s wife was Anne Elizabeth (Slater) Wisman (1916-2015). She was born in King William County, Virginia, and was widowed when she married Calvin in 1952.

Portrait of Helen Virginia Boyer Ring (1909-1993). She was the daughter of Hugh Frank and Cora Virginia Smoot Boyer. In 1934, when she was 25 years old, she married Marion Brown "Bud" Ring (1909-1968) in Toms Brook. He lived in Woodstock and worked as an engineer at that time. When Helen died, she left behind three daughters: Helen Sager, Marion Stranger, and Cora Ethridge.

Gearing, Frank Wilson Sr.
Portrait of Dr. Frank Wilson Gearing, Sr., son of Marcellus and Mary Santmiers Gearing. Frank was born in about 1892 and married his first wife, Bertha Whalley in 1917. They had two sons together: Frank Gearing Jr. and John K. Gearing. Bertha died in 1966 and Dr. Gearing married again in 1971 to Jessie Smoot. He died in 1978.

Joyce Herbaugh Wright

Photograph of Joyce Herbaugh as a young girl.
Joyce was born in Zepp to Paul Jennings and Margaret Rebecca (Whittington) Herbaugh. She graduated from Woodstock High School and was working as a secretary when she married Robert Lee Wright (1929-2003) in September 1962 in Manassas, Virginia. Joyce also worked as a seamstress.
At that time, Robert was a 33-year old truck driver from Fort Valley. His parents were George William and Rose Susan (Smoot) Wright.
The couple had two daughters together: Tawnya Elizabeth and Bobbi Gale Wright. When she died, Joyce was buried with her husband in Cedar Creek Cemetery in Zepp.

Photograph of the three Fadeley siblings as young children. Pictured left to right, are: Ola Mae, Katherine Marie “Kay”, and Warren Richard. Their parents were Lloyd Richard (1895-1953) and Ada Marie (Didawick) (1893-1979) Fadeley.
The 1940 census found the family living together on a farm near Edinburg (Madison District). All three children were raised there.
Ola Mae married Oliver Newton Peer (1922-2013), who was born Maurertown and attended Toms Brook High School, graduating in 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II with the 638th Tank Destroyer Battalion, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge and receiving the Bronze Star. He later owned and operated the Woodstock Coin Shop. Both Ola and her husband were longtime and active members of the Edinburg Christian Church as well as other civic organizations in the area. Ola was also known for her beautiful tatting during her later years. After her husband died, she moved to North Carolina for a short time at the end of her life. Both she and her husband are buried in Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock.
Katherine Marie “Kay” Fadeley married Garrett Odell Smoot (1922-1968) in February 1945 in Washington D.C. Six years later, when their son, Larry Allen Smoot (1951-1984), was born they lived in Arlington, Virginia. By 1957, when their daughter, Kathy Ann Smoot (1957-2021) was born, they had moved back to Shenandoah County. When Kay’s husband died, they lived in the Narrow Passage Creek area near Edinburg.
Warren moved to Washington D.C. as a young man. When he registered for the WWII draft in 1942, he lived at 1431 N Street, N.W. and worked for the Sears Roebuck & Co. on Georgia Avenue, N.W. Physically, he was described as 5’ 5 1/2” tall and weighed 135 pounds.
He married a woman named Louise (from Shenandoah County) in Rockville, Maryland, in 1942. Soon after, he served as a PFC in the U.S. Army during WWII. After the war, the couple divorced in 1946.
A year later, Warren lived in Washington, D.C. and married Nancy Lee (Triggs) (1928-2017) from Albemarle County. By 1950, the census found them living in Arlington, Virginia, where Warren worked as a Route Salesman for a laundry corporation and Nancy worked as a clerk typist for a retail credit association.

Ethel I. (Stickley) Wisman
Wisman, Ethel Irene (Stickley) (1887-1959)
Ethel Irene (Stickley) Wisman, standing, and wearing white dress with her hands behind her back.
Ethel was born in St. Luke, the oldest child of Thomas Rosser (1864-1937) and Georgia Lee (Smoot) (1864-1949) Stickley, a farming couple.
Her civil birth certificate was completed decades later, in 1950, when her aunt Bessie (Stickley) Sager, then 74 years old, appeared before the county clerk with a bible from 1879 that included a written entry for Ethel’s birth.
Ethel married Joseph H. Wisman (1880-1966) in 1907 and three years later, the 1910 census found the couple in the Stonewall District of Shenandoah County with a 16-month old daughter, Virginia Lee Wisman (1909-1989). Ethel’s husband did farm work on other’s farms. Ten years later, they were still there.
Ethel and her husband moved a few times after their daughter had grown. In 1930, the two of them lived in Arden, Berkeley County, West Virginia, where Joseph worked as a salesman in a dry goods store. In 1935, they were back in Shenandoah County. In 1940, they lived on Pennsylvania Avenue in Cumberland, Maryland, where Joseph worked as an agent in an insurance company.
By 1950, the couple had returned to Shenandoah County where they lived with Ethel’s, brother, Alger, and a sister, Julia M. Stickley. Joseph worked as a salesman in a grocery store according to the census.
When she died, she lived on South Main Street in Woodstock.
