Railroad facilities - Virginia - Woodstock
The photograph was taken from along W. Court Street, adjacent to what is now the Woodstock Loft Apartments (formerly Woodstock School). At the time, that area would have been known as the “Woodstock Commons.”
While the image is undated, it would have been taken prior to 1906 based on the presence of the stone Shenandoah County Jail building which was replaced by a new structure that year.
Several railroad facilities are visible in the image including the Woodstock Passenger Depot, the Woodstock Freight Depot, and a box car along with several warehouses adjoining the railroad line. Visible is the spire of the Historic Shenandoah County Courthouse and the Woodstock Presbyterian Church.
