Photograph of Cleda Orndorff Conner.
Published in the Shenandoah Herald on May 20, 1969 as part of their "Country Kitchens" series.
Cleda Orndorff was born August 9 1888 in Zepp Virginia where she would live her entire life. In 1915 she married Grover Cleveland Conner, a farmer in the community. They had one daughter, Annabelle Conner, and three sons Willard, Marshall, and Joseph.
Cleda worked hard during her farm life raising animals, canning, making her own butter, and baking bread among other things. In a 1969 Shenandoah Herald article she stated "Lots of hard work, but I enjoyed it."
She was also active in the Zepp home demonstration group, having hosted their first meeting in 1934, the Cedar Creek Christian Church, the Christian Women's Fellowship, and the Cedar Creek Community Center.
Cleta died in 1985 and is buried at the Cedar Creek Cemetery in Zepp.

Biographical Text
Neva Strosnider lived in Zepp Virginia. There she worked as a dog groomer, caring for the animals she loved to have around her. Her and her husband also operated a farm which at one point had over 4500 laying hens.
A lover of the outdoors, Neva enjoyed collecting almost anything she could find, including pets. She was also active in the Homemakers Club and the Auxiliary of the Star Tannery Fire Department.
