Biographical Text

Aggy was put on trial for allegedly setting fire to the barn of Jeremiah Hawkins on September 20, 1852. She also allegedly damaged 200 bushels of wheat, one bay mare, and a harness. George S. Hupp served as counsel. On October 13, 1852, Aggy was acquitted of all wrong doing. Hupp's fee of $20 was paid by Aggy's enslaver, Philip A. Machir.
