Portrait of Edgar Allen Poe surrounded by championship banners of the Poe Literary Society (PLS) at Massanutten Academy from 1909, 1913, 1916, and 1917. The PLS team held declamations against their rival, the Jefferson Literary Society. These competitions are still held at MMA.
