Description

Portrait of William "Billy" Otto Seal in his U.S. Army uniform. He was the son of Virgil D. and Bernice (George) Seal. Billy was wounded at Normandy in WWII.

Bill served in the US Army during World War Two and was shot in the knee. His leg was amputated while in hospital in England recovering. After the war he returned to Woodstock and worked at the American Viscose Corporation in Front Royal.

Phyllis tells me he was shot through the knee and lost his leg. She thinks he was in the hospital in England when they were treating him and trying to save his leg. He came back to Woodstock and worked at American Viscose Corp.
