Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. Annabelle lived in Edinburg and was the daughter of Lester Earl (1899-1994) and Margie Jane (Fadeley) (1904-1990) Polk. In 1945, she married Walter David Clem (1923-1995), a 22-year old Navy man born in Fort Valley to Tobias Samuel and Maggie Catherine (Walters) Clem. The marriage did not work out and by the 1950 census, Annabelle was back at home with her parents and working as a bookkeeper for a fruit & produce company. The couple divorced about a year later. Walter was working as a street car conductor in Washington D.C., while Annabelle was still in Edinburg. Annabelle remained in Shenandoah County for the rest of her life. She did not have children. She worked at both the Peoples Bank in Mount Jackson and First Virginia Bank. In fact, she was working as a mortgage loan clerk when she died suddenly and unexpectedly of an aneurism. Her mother, Margie Polk, was the informant on the death certificate. Benny was one of at least ten children born to Tobias Samuel (1887-1957) and Maggie Catherine (Walters) (1896-1952) Clem, a farming couple in Fort Valley. Benny graduated from Edinburg High School. He joined the U.S. Army in September 1948. The next year a short article appeared in the Northern Virginia Daily noting he had completed an 8-week clerical course at the Eta Jima School Command in Japan. From there, he was assigned to the 13th Engineer Combat Command to serve as the Battalion Records Clerk. His rank was Private First Class. He was promoted to Sergeant and stationed in Korea. He flew back for a brief visit in 1951. In November 1952, he married Helen Elizabeth Heishman (1928-2004) from Woodstock. Her father was Paul R. Heishman. Benny’s brother, Arthur Clem, served as the best man. After a honeymoon in upstate New York, the couple first lived in Wesley Chapel. They had a son, David Franklin Clem (1953-1953), who did not survive. Both Benny and Helen are buried in Fort Valley. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate. She was called "Fanny Lambert" when she was living in Woodstock but became "Cathy" later in her life. Cathy was the youngest of five children born to Clarence and Emma Lou (Jennings) Lambert. She was born and grew up in Woodstock. She married Paul Ewing "Jack" Gorham (1912-1966) in Meigs County, Ohio, in 1946. At that time, he was in the U.S. Army and she was a student. Frances graduated from Ohio State University. She was a teacher and world traveler. She and her husband moved to San Antonio in 1966, where she earned her Masters degree and taught at John Jay High School in San Antonio. She stayed in that community for the rest of her life. Her second husband was Edward Alfred Porter (1927-1982). After he died, she married Richard Herbert Heffernan (1912-1999). When she died, she left behind her son, Richard L. Gorham and his family. Another son, James A. Gorham, had died young. Cathy is buried in Comfort Cemetery in Kendall County, Texas.
