Title A name given to the resource Morrison Studio Collection Subject The topic of the resource Morrison, Hugh Jr. (1871-1950) Morrison, Louis Morrison, James Description An account of the resource In 1899 Hugh Morrison Jr. opened a photograph studio on W. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate. (Miller) Lucas with short dark hair and wearing a faux pearl necklace. Freddie was the daughter of Joseph Franklin and Katie Catherine (Barr) Miller. She married Robert "Bobby" William Lucas in Maurertown in 1945. Her husband was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the son of Ezra Lee and Susie Virginia (Seal) Lucas. At the time of their marriage, Robert was an insurance agent and lived in Woodstock. A few years later, the 1950 census found the family living in Front Royal, Virginia, where Robert was a "baker" at a "textile and rayon plant" (probably what later became known as Avtex Fibers) and Freddie was raising her two young children, Robert W. Jr. (3 years old) and Connie Sue Lucas (1 year old). She is wearing a corsage pinned to her dress. Trilby was the daughter of Cecil E. and Winona Louise (Lantz) Hollar. She grew up in Lantz Mills. She was a majorette in high school and with the Lantz Mills Band. Her first husband was Martin Bernard Ketola whom she married in 1951. That marriage did not last. In 1955, she married Robert E. Daggett (1929-1996) but that marriage also ended in divorce. Trilby is buried with her parents in Edinburg, Virginia.
