She was called "Fanny Lambert" when she was living in Woodstock but became "Cathy" later in her life. Cathy was the youngest of five children born to Clarence and Emma Lou (Jennings) Lambert. She was born and grew up in Woodstock. She married Paul Ewing "Jack" Gorham (1912-1966) in Meigs County, Ohio, in 1946. At that time, he was in the U.S. Army and she was a student. Frances graduated from Ohio State University. She was a teacher and world traveler. She and her husband moved to San Antonio in 1966, where she earned her Masters degree and taught at John Jay High School in San Antonio. She stayed in that community for the rest of her life. Her second husband was Edward Alfred Porter (1927-1982). After he died, she married Richard Herbert Heffernan (1912-1999). When she died, she left behind her son, Richard L. Gorham and his family. Another son, James A. Gorham, had died young. Cathy is buried in Comfort Cemetery in Kendall County, Texas. Gochenour Subject The topic of the resource Gochenour, Lee Clarence (1919-2014) Description An account of the resource Portrait photograph of Lee Clarence Gochenour as a young man wearing a suit and tie. Lee was one of at least four sons born to Clarence Lee and Minnie Mae (Wetzel) Gochenour. He grew up in Woodstock. He was drafted in 1942, and served as a Pilot in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. This photograph was made about the time he entered the military. After the war, in 1947, he married Louise Kathleen (Fox) Gochenour (1918-2015). Lee joined the Air Force Reserves in the 1950s. He later organized the reserves in Virginia. He remained in the Reserves for 23 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Lee was Commander of the Air Reserves in Richmond, VA until his death. Lee lived in Richmond for 38 years working as the Director of IT for The Richfood Corporation, Southern States, and Farm Bureau before taking a job with Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). Lee retired after 19 years of civil services at the age of 77. Lee and his brother-in-law, Gilbert Bushong, founded Sunset Memorial Gardens in Woodstock in 1969. They remained involved for twenty years before changing ownership. Lee returned to his home town of Woodstock in 1999, and became very active in his community. The Town Manager appointed Lee to become the only chairman of Woodstock Economic Development Authority that he helped form in 2003. He is buried in Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock. Her parents were Theodore and Mabel (Byrd) Tolliver of Woodstock. In the 1930 census, she was listed as a 4-year old boy, “Albert”, the youngest of four children. Nine years later, in December, Alberta married Lloyd Earl Spinner, born in Mt. Jackson. He was the son of Albert and Mattie (Johnson) Spinner and lived in Woodstock. By 1940, the young married couple were lodgers in the household of Robert and Jenny Scott on E. High Street. Alberta was a maid in a private residence; Lloyd was a servant in a private residence. Alberta’s father, Theodore, was also lodging at the home. When Lloyd registered for the WWII draft in 1942, he lived in Front Royal and was self-employed in a café. His wife, Alberta still lived in Woodstock. Lloyd served in the U.S. Army from December 1942 to January 1946. After that, the 1950 census found both Alberta and Lloyd living on Dutch Lane in Mt. Jackson with Lloyd’s aunt, Emma J. Broadus. He worked as a fireman at a rayon plant. Alberta was not working. The couple had a son at some point after that but divorced in 1955. Alberta married for the second time to Charles Ernest Nickens, Jr. (1922-1993), the son of Charles Ernest Sr. and Susie (Travis) Nickens. He was born in Strasburg. The couple lived on Water Street in Woodstock when he died. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate.
