Pete was a naturalized citizen born in Greece. He was a partner in, and later co-owner of the New York Restaurant in Woodstock, Virginia, from 1922 until his death in 1956. Pete was the son of Angelo Blentson and immigrated in 1907. The 1930 census found him living on Main Street in Woodstock with four other Greek men who were all working as waiters in a restaurant. Pete married Rena P. Pappas (1900-1973) in 1931, and by 1950, the census found the couple still on Main Street and raising two children, Angelo (19 years old) and Helen (18 years old). After he died, his son, Angelo, opened the Blue Star Diner on the southern end of town. That establishment was later moved to Newport News by the family where it continued to exist for many additional years. The building that housed the New York Restaurant was eventually torn down to make room for the current Circuit Court building in Woodstock. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate.
