Linden was the son of William Dallas Fravel (1888-1962), of Woodstock, and Olive Catherine (Stultz) Fravel (1889-1982). He grew up on a farm west of Woodstock. Linden had finished 2 years of college when he enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1943. He became an aviation cadet and completed primary and basic pilot training before becoming an aerial gunner in B-24 Liberators. Linden served in the 15th Air Force, 459th Bomb Group, 756th Bomb Squadron in Italy during his WWII service. After the war, he married Mary Jane (Haislip) Fravel (1924-2018) in 1948. She was born in Salem, Virginia, and worked as a secretary for Lewis-Gale Hospital there when they married. Her parents were Walter Armstrong and Mary Leone (Johnston) Haislip. The couple lived in the Stephens City area of Frederick County for much of their married lives. Linden operated "Fravel's Plant and Fish Garden" as a nurseryman in his later years. Another brother, Robert, was born after this photograph was taken. Their parents were Stanley N. Helsley Sr. and Mabel (Burner) Helsley, of Edinburg. Stanley married Carolyn P. Helsley, in April 1, 1955. The couple had four children; Stanley Allen, Barry Palmer, Ellen Cae, and Dana Sue Helsley. Stanley was also a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and retired after 30 years of service at McLean Trucking Company in Cincinnati, Ohio. After retiring, he returned to Shenandoah County, where he managed Woodstock Ford Tractor until it closed. His sister, Phyllis Anne Helsley, was a 1948 graduate of Edinburg High School and attended Palmer's Business School. She married Ray Albert Ryan. They had two children, James Lee and Kathy Ann Ryan. Phyllis was employed with Bowman Apple for 46 years and volunteered at the gift shop at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital. She was a lifetime member of St. Jacob's Lutheran Church. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate. Annie Belle was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Barbara M. (Holtzman) Didawick. She married Kirby Daniel Lambert (1876-1931) and had two children, Mazie and Benjamin. She lived in the Woodstock area for much of her life and is buried in Massanutten Cemetery there. Benjamin Eli Lambert married Sada Catherine (Coffman) Lambert and had a son, Joseph B. and four daughters, Louise (Lambert) Garman, Evelyn (Lambert) Neff, Eunice (Lambert) Taylor, and Emma (Lambert) Cooley. Mazie Irene Lambert married Lester Granville Hollar (1900-1953) in 1922.
