By 1948, she was a senior in the Duke University School of Nursing. It was in North Carolina that she met her first husband, Steve Donald Arledge. He was a student at the nearby Chapel Hill campus of the University of North Carolina. The couple married in 1948. In the 1950 census, Norma lived in Durham with her husband and a 6 month old daughter, Pamela. She was working as a registered nurse. The couple divorced not long after. Norma's second husband was Robert B. Evans whom she married in 1953. The couple lived in the Richmond, Virginia, area for many of their years together. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image.
