He married Betty Lee (Miller) Wakeman (1931-2011) in 1951. He worked as a salesman for Truck Suppliers and was a member of Wakemans Grove Church of the Brethren. He was an active reserve and color guard at the American Legion Post 199 in Woodstock when he died. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate. Gochenour Description An account of the resource Photo of two separate portrait photographs of Lee Clarence Gochenour wearing a suit and tie. Lee was one of at least four sons born to Clarence Lee and Minnie Mae (Wetzel) Gochenour. He grew up in Woodstock. He was drafted in 1942, and served as a Pilot in the U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. After the war, in 1947, he married Louise Kathleen (Fox) Gochenour (1918-2015). Lee joined the Air Force Reserves in the 1950s. He later organized the reserves in Virginia. He remained in the Reserves for 23 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel. Lee was Commander of the Air Reserves in Richmond, VA until his death. Lee lived in Richmond for 38 years working as the Director of IT for The Richfood Corporation, Southern States, and Farm Bureau before taking a job with Defense Logistics Agency (DLA). Lee retired after 19 years of civil services at the age of 77. Lee and his brother-in-law, Gilbert Bushong, founded Sunset Memorial Gardens in Woodstock in 1969. They remained involved for twenty years before changing ownership. Lee returned to his home town of Woodstock in 1999, and became very active in his community. The Town Manager appointed Lee to become the only chairman of Woodstock Economic Development Authority that he helped form in 2003. He is buried in Sunset View Memorial Gardens in Woodstock. Recording & registration - Virginia - Shenandoah County Military discharges - Virginia - Woodstock Description An account of the resource Photo of two separate documents related to the 1946 Army discharge of Technical Sergeant Cletus H. Fauber of Toms Brook. In the left image, Fauber's "Honorable Discharge Record" is in certificate form and includes general information. He was a member of Company E, 26th Infantry Regiment and was discharged from Fort Meade, Maryland. The document on the right includes more detail about his service. Inducted in January 1944, he served until 25 March 1944. He served as a "mortor gunner" and participated in the "Ardennes, Rhineland, Central European Campaign". Medals received included: "Good Conduct", "European, African, Middle East Theater ribbon", and the WWII Victory ribbon. Fauber was headed to his home of Toms Brook where his occupation was listed as "farmer".
