Linaweaver on the right. Carl was in the U.S. Navy while Robert was a paratrooper in the Airborne division of the U.S. Army. Their parents were Lawrence and Essie (Brill) Linaweaver. They also had a sister named Louise (Linaweaver) Raynor Seekford. When he registered for the WWII draft, Carl worked at the Safeway Store in Front Royal but lived on Spring Street in Woodstock. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves from December 1944 to July 1946. Sometime later, he married Lavine Estelle (Gulick) (1919-1982), a woman from West Virginia, who worked as a waitress in a restaurant. Robert served in the Airborne Division of the U.S. Army from May 1943 to Dec 1945. After, he married Emily Isabel (Hollar) (1924-2017) in 1946. She was a nurse and the daughter of Lester Granville and Mazie Irene (Lambert) Hollar. When they married, Robert was a 21-year old service station operator in Edinburg. The couple had five children: Robert Jr., Sue, Rebecca, William, and Richard “Dicky”. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate.
