Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Harvey was the son of Charles William and Ada May (Nicholas-Keyes) Huffman from Fort Valley. He served in the military as a Private during WWII, from 1944 to 1946. After that, he returned home and married Ruby Irene Sibert in October 1949. Ruby was the daughter of Homer Albertus and Hazel Mary (Hedrick) Sibert. She was 19 years old and working for the Woodstock Manufacturing Company when she married. The 1950 census found Harvey and Ruby living with her parents in Fort Valley. His occupation was "huckster" and hers was as a "sewer" in a coat factory. At some point in his life, Harvey was an employee of Dellinger Funeral Home and Dellinger Ambulance Service. When he died in 1979, his occupation was as a "storeroom manager" in a hospital. The couple raised at least two sons together, Harvey Lee Huffman, Jr., and Darryl Huffman. James was born in Woodstock, the only son of Robert E. Lee (1879-1941) and Blanche Mae (Ryan) (1890-1959) Rhinehart. His father worked for a local telephone company and later operated a draying business. James grew up on Muhlenberg Street in Woodstock and had three older sisters. He graduated from Woodstock High School. He worked at Southern Dairies in Woodstock until he enlisted in the U.S. Army in August 1943. At first, he was stationed at Ft. Eustis, Virginia, then Ft. Meade, Maryland. By the late summer of 1944, however, he was fighting in France with Company C in the 175th Infantry Regiment of the 29th Infantry Division. Tragically, he was killed in action that September. Posthumously, he was awarded a purple heart for his actions. Private Rhinehart is buried in Normandy, France. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate. He was the son of Galen F. (1898-1980) and Maude Elizabeth (Clem) Wakeman (1903-1993) and grew up with many siblings. He married Betty Lee (Miller) Wakeman (1931-2011) in 1951. He worked as a salesman for Truck Suppliers and was a member of Wakemans Grove Church of the Brethren. He was an active reserve and color guard at the American Legion Post 199, in Woodstock, when he died.
