Mamie was from Mount Jackson, the daughter of Samuel Green Funkhouser, a teacher, and Eunice Idella (Swartz) Funkhouser. She was the oldest of seven children. Her first husband was Carl Edward Riffey (1904-1960), a farm laborer, who she married in 1922. By 1940, Mamie lived alone and was the proprietor of a grocery store. She and Carl divorced in 1941 and two years later Mamie married for the second time. Hugh Albert Coffelt (1879-1971) was a twice married widow when he married Mamie in 1943. He farmed and Mamie worked as a clerk. Mamie did not have children and lived in Mount Jackson when she died. He married Iona Marie Sine in February 1938. She was the daughter of Seward Stanley (1894-1964) and Irene Contantine (Fleming) (1898-1983) Sine of Liberty Furnace. Stanley was a farmer and owner and operator of Foltz Meat Processors near Edinburg. He was formerly employed with Shen-Valley Meat Packers and American Viscose (later called Avtex Fibers). He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Hamburg and Shenandoah Lodge #82. His son, Larry Sine Foltz, Sr., graduated from Edinburg High School in 1959. Right after, he joined the U.S. Army and completed his basic training at Fort Knox, Kentucky. The Northern Virginia Daily reported on October 13, 1959, that he was spending eight weeks of advanced individual artillery training at The Artillery and Missile Center in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The purpose was to learn the duties of a cannoneer in a 105-millimeter howitzer section. In 1966, after his military service, he married Marie Estell Boyce, born in Strasburg to Arthur Robert and Mary Elizabeth (Feller) Boyce. She lived in Edinburg and was a seamstress. At that time, Larry was a truck driver. He lived in Woodstock when he died. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate.
