Their parents were Harold and Kathleen (Poindexter) Hockman, of Strasburg. June Hockman was a nurse working in Winchester when she met and married Anthony V. Passeretti in January 1954. He was a doctor born in Troy, New York. The couple spent most of their time together in New York and had at least one son there. June died in Sarasota Springs, New York. Her brother, Judson D. Hockman, attended Lynchburg College and became a teacher as a young man. He lived Falls Church when he married Nell Marie Crowley, also a teacher, in 1952. From 1953-1956, he served in the U.S. Army. The couple divorced in October 1973 and two months later, Judson married Celeste W. Morris Cocherham, a 31-year old divorcee, at the Disciples of Christ Church on High Street in Strasburg. The couple lived in Fairfax County. Judson was no longer teaching and worked as the Director of the Town of Vienna’s Parks & Recreation Department. He worked there about 15 years before resigning in March 1981. He died later that same year, at just 49 years old. Title A name given to the resource Morrison Studio Collection Subject The topic of the resource Morrison, Hugh Jr. (1871-1950) Morrison, Louis Morrison, James Description An account of the resource In 1899 Hugh Morrison Jr. opened a photograph studio on W. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate.
