Ann was the daughter of Guy Anderson and Katharine (Hottel) Benchoff. She and her three siblings grew up in Woodstock. Her parents worked at Massanutten Military Academy (MMA) and her uncle was the headmaster there for more than fifty years. Ann attended Woodstock High School (Class of 1946), and the Massanutten Military Academy (MMA). She earned a bachelor of arts degree in fine arts in 1951 from Hood College in Frederick, Maryland. At Hood, she was an active member of the Hood Glee Club where she met her husband (a Franklin and Marshall College student and aspiring doctor), Charles F. Stamm. In the early 1950's, after graduating, Ann worked as a purchasing agent for Hutzler's department store in Baltimore, Maryland. After the couple married in 1955, they were stationed with the Air Force Medical Corps at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska, during the Cold War. Next, they moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan, before settling in Schenectady, New York. Ann was extremely active in her Schenectady community. She and her husband raised four children: Katharine, Martha, Charles, and Jared. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Their parents were George William (1880-1943) and Mary Lacy (Rush) (1885-1966) Boyer, from Woodstock. At least two other siblings died as infants. When Rush W. Boyer registered for the WWII draft, he worked for Holmes & Son, Co. in Washington D.C. He served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army from 1942-1946. By 1950, he was in Fauquier County, married to Hedy Clementine (Williams) Boyer, and working as a mail carrier for the U.S. Post Office. Rush re-enlisted in the military and served another two years (1950-1952). His wife died sometime after that and Rush married for the second time in 1961. At that time, he lived in Midland, Virginia, and worked as a Surveyor. His bride was also widowed. She was Rachel Lou Keathley, a secretary born in Sparta, Tennessee. Rush is buried in Culpeper, Virginia. Lacy Alva Boyer graduated from Massanutten Military Academy (MMA) in Woodstock in 1933 and was an Army veteran of World War II. He married Margaret Wallace (Shields) Boyer (1918-2006) and had a son, George W. Boyer. Lacy retired in 1980 as branch manager for Farm Credit. He lived in Woodstock most of his life and, through the years, was a member of Woodstock Presbyterian Church and the Woodstock Rotary Club, where he was president from 1957 to 1958 and received the Paul Harris Fellow Award in 1995. He also served as a board member of Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock and Sunnyside Presbyterian Retirement Community. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate.
