Billy and Betty were two of the many children born to John Melvin (1894-1955) and Rosa Elizabeth (Grimm) (1894-1979). The family was from the St. Luke area of the Shenandoah County. Billy and Betty’s father farmed and was also a veterinarian. Billy attended George Washington University in Washington D.C. and became a pharmacist.
