He married Wanda Jean (Holler) (1943-2014) in 1963. They had two daughters together, Lisa and April. Lanny worked at Safeway for 32 years before he retired. Later, he retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation as a supervisor and surveyor. Gary married Sharon Lee Keller in 1971. The marriage did not last. His second wife was Patricia Dianne Rennie who he married in 1978. Gary is buried in Lebanon Church. In the 1930s, Massanutten Military Academy bought the hotel and kept it in operation as the Hotel Woodstock. It closed sometime after 1950. Geneva was born in Woodstock to Charles Hubert (1895-1967) and Mary Elizabeth (Combs) (1898-1993) Painter. When she married in 1946, she worked as a stenographer and lived in Edinburg. Her husband was Charles Herbert Cummins, Jr. (1924-1975). He was born in Anstead, West Virginia, to Charles Herbert (1895-1962) and Gladys Signora (Tolley) (1895-1963) Cummins. When he married, Herbert was a student living in Arlington, Virginia. The 1950 census found Geneva and Herbert living in the Madison District of Shenandoah County. They lived with Geneva’s parents and two younger siblings. Geneva worked as a bookkeeper in a poultry plant while Herbert worked as a printer’s helper in a printing plant. They had at least one son, Donald, who, as of 2002, lived in Edinburg. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate. The original materials are primarily 8x10 black and white prints with approximately 2 5x7 prints and 110 images are from negatives. They were taken and developed by William Garber. The items were scanned and stored in a thumb drive in jpg format. Photographs are numbered chronologically according to how they appeared in the Mt. McClain Subject The topic of the resource McClain, Genevieve D. Robinson (ca 1895-1983) African Americans - Virginia - Shenandoah County Description An account of the resource Genevieve D. McClain with glasses and seated on a bench. She is best remembered for having been a teacher at Creekside School in Woodstock. Genevieve D. Robinson was born in Douglas Grove, Berkley County, West Virginia, to David Henry and Sarah E. (Banks) Robinson. The year of her birth varies depending on the document, anywhere from 1892 to 1898. She was one of nine children and her father worked in a stone quarry when she was a child. She married William McClain (1876-1931) in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1922. He was the son of Henry and Georgie (Brown) McClain. Genevieve and William may have had a daughter, Genevieve, but little is known about her. In the 1930 census, they lived in Pittsburgh, PA, but William died less than two years later. It appears Genevieve moved back to West Virginia. Genevieve worked as an elementary school teacher in Franklin, W. Va., Woodstock, Va., and Stanardsville, Va. In Woodstock, she taught during the late 1940s and early 1950s at Creekside Elementary School, Woodstock's segregated school. In the 1950 census, she appeared as a boarder in the household of William and Elizabeth Jefferson near Church and Water Streets in Woodstock. She was a schoolteacher. This photograph was undoubtedly taken during her time in Shenandoah County. She was a retired teacher and lived in Ranson, West Virginia, when she died. Her obituary noted she had been a member of the Jefferson County Committee on Aging and the N.A.A.C.P. She is buried with her husband in Douglas Grove Cemetery, Berkley County, West Virginia.
