He married Lois Mae See (1937-2022) in November 1959, in Switzerland, before moving to Africa where Lois worked for the Foreign Service. Later, they returned to the United States and lived in Fredericksburg, Virginia, for many years. The couple had two sons together. About Doris Jean (Mantz) Crum: Doris Mantz married Joseph E. Crum (1932-2014) in 1952. He was from Ohio. The couple had four sons and two daughters together. Doris and her family lived in Florida for years when the children were young. Northern Virginia newspaper articles from the early 1960s mentioned them each time they came back to Woodstock for a visit with relatives. Later in her life, Doris lived in Van West County, Ohio. Katie was from the Lee District of Shenandoah County, a daughter of Charles Moses and Annie M. (Jones) Getz. The family farmed. She married Charles Davis Meyerhoffer (1887-1942) in Bridgewater in 1929. His parents were Charles L. and Vernie Laura (Riddle) Meyerhoffer. He was born in Rockingham County. When they married, they lived in North River, West Virginia, where her husband was a merchant. In 1930, they lived on Keezletown Road in the Ashby District of Shenandoah County where her husband was a retail merchant in a general store. Later, they lived in Mt. Crawford in Rockingham County, where Charles was a farmer and hatcheryman. Katie’s husband died in his fifties. Eight years later, the 1950 census found her living with her brother’s family back in the Lee District. When she died, she lived in Mount Jackson. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate. In the 1900 census, she and her parents lived at her mother’s family’s home in the Davis District of Shenandoah County. She married Tasker Frederick Shrum (1889 - 1970) in October, 1910, and by the 1920 census, the couple had two daughters: Dorothy Rebecca Shrum (born in 1913) and Ruth Virginia Shrum (born in 1919). Katie’s husband worked as a farmhand. He was the son of Joseph Alton (1853-1912) and Amanda Jane (Hollar) (1855-1933) Shrum. Katie lived in Toms Brook when she died. The family was listed there in the 1940 census as well. She was buried in Harrisville, located in the northern part of Shenandoah County.
