Lacy graduated from Massanutten Military Academy in 1933 and was an Army veteran of World War II. He married Margaret Wallace (Shields) Boyer (1918-2006) and had a son, George W. Boyer. Lacy retired in 1980 as branch manager for Farm Credit. He lived in Woodstock most of his life and, through the years, was a member of Woodstock Presbyterian Church and the Woodstock Rotary Club, where he was president from 1957 to 1958 and received the Paul Harris Fellow Award in 1995. He also served as a board member of Shenandoah Memorial Hospital in Woodstock and Sunnyside Presbyterian Retirement Community. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate. Lacy Alva Boyer was the son of George William (1880-1943) and Mary Lacy (Rush) (1885-1966) Boyer, from Woodstock. Lacy graduated from Massanutten Military Academy in 1933 and was an Army veteran of World War II. He married Margaret Wallace (Shields) Boyer (1918-2006) and had a son, George W. Boyer. Lacy retired in 1980 as branch manager for Farm Credit. He lived in Woodstock most of his life and, through the years, was a member of Woodstock Presbyterian Church and the Woodstock Rotary Club, where he was president from 1957 to 1958 and received the Paul Harris Fellow Award in 1995. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer.
