She was the daughter of Edward Newton (1887-1967) and Cleva Alice (Wisman) (1884-1928) Frye. Her father was a farmer. In 1923, both Lois and her older brother, Leonard, made the honor roll for their respective grades at the Pleasant Grove Graded School in the Stonewall District of Shenandoah County. By 1930, her mother had died and she was the oldest daughter of three still living with their widowed father in the Stonewall District. An older brother, Leonard, and her grandfather, Atwell W. Frye, also lived with them. The 1940 census found Lois married to John Milton Stuckert, an egg salesman born in Washington D.C. The couple lived in Washington D.C., and had a 6-year old daughter, Lois Hester Stuckert. Ten years later, Lois lived with her daughter and a lodger on N. Taft Street in Arlington. Her husband was not there. She worked as “Asst. Chief Cashier” for the National Food Corporation. Her birth was recorded in the family bible (published in 1881). Her father had to bring the bible with him to help prove her birth to the Arlington County notary clerk when he and Lois officially recorded her arrival in 1952. She lived at The Virginian in Fairfax, Virginia, when she died. Her obituary noted she had been the cash control manager for Knott Food Concessions and the wife of John Milton Stuckert. Wilkins, Sr., in November 1932 in Stephens City. He was the son of William J. and Esta W. (Holler) Wilkins. His father operated Lantz Mill for many years. The 1940 census found the couple living with her parents on a farm in the Stonewall District of Shenandoah County. Paul helped his father-in-law farm in that record. In 1950, they had two sons, Paul Jr. and Michael Wilkins. Paul Sr. worked as a machinist for a retail hardware store. Lois’ mother, Catherine, was widowed by then and also lived with them. The name, "Hoover", is written on the glass plate. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate.
