Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Kitzmeyer died in Brooklyn NY in 1923. He graduated from Gettysburg College in 1890 and then Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary in 1893. Kitzmeyer was married to Annie Leith, April 20 1898. Rev. Josephine became an invalid and died in her early 20's. Kathryn died as a child. His daughter, Rosalie, grew up on the MMA campus. In 1930, she married a doctor, William B. Carter Hall was the Millwood, Virginia, estate of Lt. Col. Nathaniel Burwell (1750–1814). It was built around 1797. It is located in the northern Shenandoah Valley, off Virginia Route 255 northeast of Millwood. The estate includes a grand plantation house, a great lawn, and terraced gardens, and has panoramic views in all directions. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This photograph was used in John Wayland's book, "Stonewall Jackson's Way" (page 199).
