In 1947, he was the best man at his brother, Paul’s, wedding in Baltimore, Maryland. A year later, Stanley married Barbara Jean (Donovan) Clem in Baltimore. The couple was married for 8 years before divorcing in 1958. They had two children together, however, one of them, Ronald Lee Clem (1955-1955) was born prematurely, and did not live. He married for the second time in 1960. His bride was Genevieve Strickler, a clerk living in Arlington but born in Woodstock. Her parents were Thomas and Olive Bertha (Sibert) Strickler. Stanley and Genevieve had at least one daughter together, Amy Loraine Clem. When Stanley died, he was in Los Angeles County, California. His remains were buried in Fort Valley. The name, "Stanley Clem" and the date, "11/28/44" was written on the glass plate of this image. Both are wearing Civil Air Patrol Uniforms. They were part a group of Shenandoah County residents who joined the Civil Air Patrol at a meeting at Edinburg High School in 1944. The group trained in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Perry "Bud" Heishman was a Second Lieutenant who became Commander of the group on December 11, 1944, and Stanley Clem was listed as a Sergeant. Both men pictured attended Edinburg High School. Clem was in the U.S. Army Air Force at the end of the Second World War and lived in Fort Valley. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman.
