Wilmetta was the daughter of Luther Monroe (1854-1938) and Sarah Catherine (Hammon) (1860-1937) Eastep. Her father was a blacksmith. Her husband was Walter William Bly (1878-1932), born in Frederick County, the son of Daniel Bly (1849-1909) and Harriett Elizabeth (Orndorff) (1855-1931) Bly. She married him in December 1902. Wilmetta and Walter had four children over the course of their years together. They were: Alvin Arthur Bly (1908-1964), Sarah E. Bly, Walter I. Bly and Aden William Bly (1915-1970). The latter two appear to have been born at the same time, possibly twins, Both the 1920 and 1930 censuses find Wilmetta, her husband, and her children living on a farm in Fishers Hill near Strasburg. By 1940, Wilmetta was widowed but still there. Her daughter, 27-year old Sarah E., was the only one of her children still living with her. She remained on her farm in Fishers Hill until the end of her life. She and her husband are buried in Saint Stephens Cemetery in Strasburg Junction. George was born in Jerome to Pius Martin (1876-1952) and Rebecca Frances (Nesselrodt) (1885-1969) Miller, a farming couple. He married in April 1937 in Mt. Jackson. His bride was 16-year old Irene Pauline Spitler (1920-2004). She was the daughter of Mathias C. (1882-1949) and Mamie May (Whitmer) (1904-1983) Spitler. At that time, George was 21 years old and farmed in Jerome, probably on his father’s farm. When he registered for the WWII draft, he worked for William B. Clark at Bird Haven Farm near Basye, Virginia. The wood-working factory stood on land owned by Mr. Clark and provided many local residents with income during the years it operated. George served in the U.S. Army and by 1950, he had returned to the area. The census found both George and his wife, Irene, living in the Ashby District. Both were employed at a wood-crafting factory, probably Bird Haven Farm. The couple had two daughters together: Sandra (Miller) Rinker and Betty Ann (Miller) Meadors. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate. Their parents were Aubey A. Dellinger Sr. and Martha Montross Bowers. Aubey A. Dellinger, Jr. graduated from Edinburg High School in 1940 and served in the European Theater of Operation during WWII. In 1963, he married Thelma Doris Raper of Murphy N.C. Together, they raised a daughter, Sandra (Dellinger) Nelson. Auby Jr. retired from the U.S. Government in 1973, and then retired later from Johns Manville, having worked as a machinist. Clyde Franklin Dellinger was born in Johnstown, Pennsylvania. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Just after, in 1948, when he registered for the Korean War Era Draft, Clyde worked as a truck driver for F.I. Good in New Market. A few years later, he was in the U.S. Air Force when he married Charlotte May Hansberger in 1951. The couple spent their later years in Texas and are buried there in San Antonio. The photographer has whited out a portion of Clyde on the right in preparation for making a photograph of just Aubey on the left.
