His wife, Carrie (Stine) Chapman, is beside him. Their six sons are posed around them. We do not know who is who. The sons are: J. Shields, Frank, Douglas, Thomas, George, and Paul Chapman. The couple were married April 23, 1888. Hunter worked as the B&O agent in Woodstock Virginia until 1936. He was also instrumental in the creation of Shenandoah Caverns and served as their President from 1920 until his death in 1942. As of 2025, their home is the Woodstock Museum.
