Walter was born in Fort Valley to William Clarence and Lucy (Ritenour) Jett. He married Beulah Esta Huffman, also from Fort Valley, in 1923, and they had 8 children together. Walter was working for the Capola Mountain Mines in Star Tannery, Virginia, when he was severely injured by a belt that broke loose and snapped him across the legs. After he recovered, he had to walk with the aid of a cane. This was a terrible hit to this large family during the depression. The family lived in Fort Valley until at least the 1940's. When Walter died, his occupation was "retired farmer". He and his wife lived on N. Church Street in Woodstock by then. The couple had three children: Cary Dean, Lana, and Zane Alan Lichliter. She and Carson divorced in 1953 and a year later, her name became Shipe. This second union did not last and in 1967, she married Clayton Jett. She retired from Avtex Fibers in November of 1989, was the recording secretary for the Avtex Retirees Club, and a member of the Jolly 60’s AARP, the Warren County Senior Center and the Riverton United Methodist Church, where she was in charge of Parliaments. A year later, she married Carson Marion Lichliter and lived in Fort Valley for several years. Her husband worked at a saw mill and she worked at the Celanese Plant. The couple had three children: Cary Dean, Lana, and Zane Alan Lichliter. She and Carson divorced in 1953 and a year later, her name became Shipe. This second union did not last and in 1967, she married Clayton Jett. She retired from Avtex Fibers in November of 1989, was the recording secretary for the Avtex Retirees Club, and a member of the Jolly 60’s AARP, the Warren County Senior Center and the Riverton United Methodist Church, where she was in charge of Parliaments. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate.
