Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate. Martha was from Strasburg, the daughter of Chester Mason (1901-1968) and Catherine Romaine (Hottle) (1913-1966) Hockman. She graduated from Strasburg High School in 1949 and then went on to the Beauty School of Woodrow Wilson in Staunton, Virginia. In 1951, she married John Fravel Rennie, who had also graduated from Strasburg High School in 1949. He grew up on B Street, the son of J.P. and Lucy M. Rennie. His father was a carpenter. The couple married in Hagerstown, Maryland, in a double ceremony with a second Strasburg couple, Peggy Crabill and Leroy Fishel. At the time of her marriage, Martha worked at the Clements Beauty Parlor in Woodstock and her husband worked for the National Fruit Company in Winchester. Martha and John had at least three daughters together: Carolyn Marie, Susan Gail, and Patricia Dianne Rennie. In January 2024, the couple celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary at their home on Junction Road, Strasburg.
