Wilson, an African American Methodist clergyman who served at several Methodist Churches in the Shenandoah Valley. He was born in Florence County, South Carolina. In the 1910 census, he was married to Addie Wilson and both were listed as servants in the white household of Charles and Grace Hines. In 1920, the couple lived in Richmond, Virginia, where Columbus drove a lumber truck. Their daughter, Edith, was born in the early 1920s. By 1930, Columbus Wilson was a Methodist clergyman living in Grottoes, Rockingham County, with his wife, Addie. This photograph was likely taken during his years in the Shenandoah Valley. In 1935, he lived in Middleburg, Virginia. When he registered for the WWII draft, Columbus Wilson and his wife lived on Annandale Road in Falls Church, Virginia, where he served as a Methodist Church pastor. He was still living in that area ten years later. The name, "Rev. C.C. Wilson", is written on the glass plate. Anna Lee was the second of three children born to John Abraham (1896-1969) and Mary Virginia (Shank) (1896-1979) Myers. Ann Lee married Vernon Eugene Wilson (1917-2013) in Florida in 1946. He was from San Antonio, Texas, and a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps stationed at the Boca Raton Army Air Field when they met. Their marriage lasted 63 years, much of that spent in the Air Force. The couple retired in 1968 to Biloxi, Mississippi. They raised two daughters together: Jayne and Sue. When Anna Lee died, she was buried in San Antonio, Bexar, Texas. Her last residence was Biloxi, Mississippi. The name, "Myers", is written on the glass plate negative. She graduated from Triplett High School at the age of 16 and from Winchester Memorial Hospital Training School for Nurses in 1943. While in the U.S. Army, she met her husband, Alton Wilson, in the Officer's Club. She served as a Lieutenant Nurse in the psychiatric ward, treating pilots returning from the war, 1944-1945. Arvella married Alton Duane Wilson (1922-1999) in San Antonio, Texas, on February 23, 1945. They shared 54 years of marriage and raised three children. She continued her nursing career until her retirement in 1980. She lived in Florida for many years before moving to Oklahoma where she spent her last years. The 1930 and 1940 censuses found the family living in the Stonewall District and farming. Anna Lee was the second of three children born to John Abraham (1896-1969) and Mary Virginia (Shank) (1896-1979) Myers. Ann Lee married Vernon Eugene Wilson (1917-2013) in Florida in 1946. He was from San Antonio, Texas, and a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Air Corps stationed at the Boca Raton Army Air Field when they met. Their marriage lasted 63 years, much of that spent in the Air Force. The couple retired in 1968 to Biloxi, Mississippi. They raised two daughters together: Jayne and Sue. When Anna Lee died, she was buried in San Antonio, Bexar, Texas. Her last residence was Biloxi, Mississippi. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs.
