He graduated from Virginia Tech in 1956 with a degree in Horticulture, served in the U.S. Army for the next couple of years, and eventually earned a degree from Wharton Business School at the University of Pennsylvania in 1961 before returning to the family apple business. His wife was Nancy Lynn (Albaugh) Bowman. They married in 1968. He was active in his community and is remembered for the many philanthropic enterprises he initiated. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate. He is most remembered for having been a banker and owner of Bauserman Tax Services. Later, after he retired, he was active in the community, including as a member of the Shenandoah County Board of Supervisors. Ralph was from Mount Jackson, the son of Fred and Ocie Edith (Long) Bauserman. He married Shelby Dean (Olinger) Bauserman (1936-1997). Together, they raised four children. The image on the left has a mark at the top where the photographer noted which of the two images he planned to print.
