Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate. Margaret was one of at least seven children born to Joseph Homer (1853-1838) and Julia Arnetta (Henkel) (1859-1911) Tisinger, a farming family in the Ashby District of Shenandoah County. In 1910, Margaret lived with her parents and siblings and worked as a music teacher. She married a few years later in September 1913, to Harry Bernard Shutters (1890-1969), the son of David E. (1868-1954) and Emma J. (Stover) (1870-1960) Shutters. When he married, Harry’s occupation was “farmer”, however, by 1920 and for decades after, he worked for the U.S. Post Office as a mail carrier. The couple lived in Mount Jackson where they raised two daughters: Margaret Elizabeth and Helen Amelia Shutters. Both Margaret and Harry are buried together in the Mount Jackson Cemetery. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Eleanor was the daughter of Captain John Henry (1839-1922) and Mary Lytle (Hollingsworth) (1846-1934) Grabill. A graduate of the Massanutten Academy in Woodstock, Eleonor married Jacob Haun (1891-1985) in 1918. Jacob was born in “Hollertown”, Shenandoah County, the son of Eleazer and Lilly Belle (Shipp) Haun. He had served as a Private in the U.S. Army during WWI. When he married, he worked as a high school principal. He later founded the Haun-Magruder Insurance Company, in Woodstock, where he worked for decades. Eleanor was a contributing writer for many years to the Shenandoah Herald and other publications. She assisted in compiling historical information concerning Shenandoah County men killed in World War II. Eleonor was also an editor of the Woodstock Bicentennial Historical Booklet and a member of the Winchester-Frederick County Historical Society.
