Born in Fort Valley, she was the daughter of George Morgan (1854-1920) and Sarah Frances (McInturff) (1854-1927) Ritenour. She married William Henry Burner (1875-1966), a farmer from Fort Valley. His parents were John Jacob (1844-1923) and Ellen Mary (Smith) Burner. The couple farmed for many years in the Carmel area on a farm they owned outright. They had many children together (at least ten) between 1903 and 1931, although not all of them lived. She grew up in a farming family in Edinburg and appears there with her family in the 1860, 1870, and 1880 censuses. By 1900, she had been married to Perry Samuel Coffelt (1848-1930) for seven years. He was originally from Lantz Mills, the son of William and Catherine Coffelt, and worked as a house painter when he was young. He had been married once before. By 1900, however, Perry was listed as 52-year old farmer. Ten years later, the couple appeared together again and lived on Koontz Road. By 1920, however, Emma’s husband was a widow living with his sister, Annie. (1868-1900) and Mary Belle (Bauserman) (1870-1942) Keller. Lawrence’s occupation when he married was as a Postmaster. Samuel Lester Rutz married Mary Etta Rutz (1888-1967). The couple had a son, Lewis Henry Rutz (1911-1991). Samuel worked doing automobile body work for many years and lived in Toms Brook at the end of his life. He is buried in Harrisville, near Toms Brook. (Sheffler) Crabill with hair pinned up and her hands in her lap. Vergie was the daughter of J.B. and Ann R. Sheffler. Her father was born in Pennsylvania and her mother in Maryland. In 1880, she appeared as a 1-year old with her family in the census for the Johnston District of Shenandoah County. They lived at the County House for the Poor because Virgie’s father was the County Superintendent of the Poor. She had five older siblings at the time. In 1900, Vergie lived with her older sister, Lillie L. Meiley, and her family. Ten years later, she was married to Kirby Wymer Crabill (1878-1967) and had 4 children of her own. Her husband was the son of Benjamin R. and Francis (Eberly) Crabill. He worked as a carpenter for the railroad for many years. Title A name given to the resource Morrison Studio Collection Subject The topic of the resource Morrison, Hugh Jr. (1871-1950) Morrison, Louis Morrison, James Description An account of the resource In 1899 Hugh Morrison Jr. opened a photograph studio on W. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate. This appears to be a reproduction of an earlier image also created by Morrison Studios. Gladys was the daughter of John Franklin (1868-1941), a farmer, and Cora Virginia (Wisman) Hottel (1873-1959). She married John David Fravel (1887-1950) in Woodstock in June 1921. He was the son of Joseph (1842-1909) and Catherine Victoria (Hottel) (1847-1892) Fravel. In the 1930, 1940, and 1950 censuses, the couple lived with her parents in Woodstock. Her husband started out as a mechanic in his own shop, then was a repair mechanic in an Antiques shop, and, finally, listed as a carpenter in a factory. Gladys and her husband had two daughters, Dorothy E. and Deanna M. Fravel.
