Ellen grew up in Woodstock, the fifth of eight children born to Warren Ballinger (1888-1973) and Lena Belle (Sheetz) (1895-1976) French. She graduated from Duke University in 1950 with a degree in Botany. Then, Ellen worked for several years in the laboratories of Carnegie Institute in Washington, D.C. Ellen married Clifford “Cliff” Leroy Fuller, Jr., in 1957 and moved to Orlando, Florida, where she became involved in local and national politics and was a precinct voting supervisor. Her husband was an engineer for Martin Marietta in Orlando for more than 40 years. Ellen was active in the Orlando Garden Club and the Fern Club, but her real passion was the Orlando Dog Training Club where she worked as a trainer and AKC judge. When she died, she left behind four children – Susan, Thomas, Richard, and Margaret. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate.
