The page includes partial entries for two separate wills. At the top, it appears the will of John Hammon came before the court on January 13, 1806. Two witnesses, Peter Tucinger [sic] and George Shaver, and the executor, Samuel Walton, were mentioned. Walton entered into "bond with Jacob Emshwiller [sic] and John Walton his securities in the penalty of three thousand dollars conditional as the law directs." The lower half of the page is the beginning of the last will and testament of Christian Crabil. He directs that his son, Abraham Crabil, receive "part of my tract of land" located on the Narrow Passage Creek. The land was originally granted to Christian by Lord Fairfax of the Northern Neck of Virginia on 20 September 1768. He was born in Toms Brook to Capt. Emmanuel Crabill and Elizabeth (Eberly) Crabill. He married in October 1880, to Amelia "Melia" Stickley, (1858-1935) of near Strasburg. He was well-known and active in the community. The couple raised six children together before Charles suffered a fatal heart attack in his jewelry shop where he had worked for over 50 years. An obituary published in the Warren Sentinel on August 17, 1933, said this about him: "Mr. Crabill was a self-made man, known and respected by a large circle of friends throughout the valley. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate.
