Cecil was the son of Otis Earl (1885-1969) and Ella Laura (Shipp) (1887-1971) Stultz. Ten years later, Emma and Cecil were still there with her parents but with two children, Carolyn (6 years old) and Stephen Dale (3 years old). The couple farmed all their lives. They were the children of Harlin Roy (1907-1967) and Thelma Ernestine (Estep) (1908-1996) Bauserman. They grew up in Maurertown where their father, was the Plant Supervisor at the Grabill Grader Plant in Woodstock for many years, before starting his own home improvement business in Maurertown. About Charles Bauserman: When he registered for the WWII draft, Charles worked at the Walton & Smoot Drugstore in Woodstock. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a Private during WWII. After the war, he worked as a shipping clerk at the Grabill Manufacturing Company and married a secretary there, Dana Lee (Coffman) (1926-2016) in 1948. The couple did not have children and divorced in 1959. The following year, Charles married Joanne Mae Nofsinger, a garment inspector for the Aileen Company who lived in Strasburg. By then, Charles had been working at his father’s business, Bauserman’s Home Improvement Company, for many years. About Donald Ray Bauserman: Donald Ray Bauserman served in the Navy during WWII and after. He was discharged in 1949 but re-enlisted and was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Des Moines as a Fireman Apprentice (F.A.) in 1952. Donald graduated from the Bailey Technical School in St. Louis, Missouri in 1957. He spent the rest of his life mostly in Maurertown. Many newspaper articles attest to his involvement in the Woodstock Junior Chamber of Commerce (the Jaycees). In 1960, he was a salesman for new homes being built in the “Viscose City” subdivision in Front Royal. Donald married in 1972 but the marriage did not last. His bride was a 28-year old divorcee born in Tennessee named Lynette Ray Bemis. They had no children together. Donald had a car accident, in January 1995, that made the newspapers. By then, he was partially paralyzed and the Southwest Times newspaper reported he had survived three nights in sub-freezing weather after driving his car into a ditch in an isolated part of Hardy County near Mathias. He was rescued when a Potomac Edison meter reader found him shivering, hungry, and thirsty in his 1992 Chrysler Imperial. About June Ogden (Bauserman) Hockman: June Bauserman married Larry Ott Hockman (1928-2002) in 1953. He had served as a Corporal in the U.S. Army during the Korean conflict. Born in Maurertown, his parents were Arch Franklin and Florine (Sine) Hockman. He was an electrician when they married. The couple spent many decades together and raised at least two children, Thad Sine Hockman and Cheryl Lynn Hockman. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate. Their parents were Glenn Henry (1897-1959) and Mary Frances (Burner) (1898-1975) Didawick. Patsy Jean Didawick lived in Toms Brook and worked as a bookkeeper in 1958 when she married John Emory Simmons (1935-2016), a truck driver from Edinburg. His parents were Floyd Oakney and Olga Emory (Burns) Simmons. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. The couple moved to Florida in the 1970’s then to Texas. They moved back to Virginia for a time, but returned to Texas to be near their grown children – David, Rachel, Beth, and Michael -- and grandchildren. Dorothy Marilla Didawick lived most of her life in Toms Brook. She married Delford Elwood Keckley, a 21-year old farmer from Strasburg in 1941. He was the son of Earl and Wilmouth Irene (Cook) Keckley. They had a daughter, Margaret, in 1944. Sometime after that, they divorced and then, in 1963 married each other again. Their son, William Allen Keckley, was born during this time. Their second marriage lasted until 1974. Dorothy married a third time to Ashby Woodrow Edwards from Penn Laird, Rockingham County. He was ten years older than Dorothy and that union lasted from 1974-1983. She died a few years later. (1931-1991) Blentson, Helen Description An account of the resource Photograph of Pete Blentson with his two children: Angelo (on the left), and Helen (on the right). The girl in the center is unknown, but may be one of several of Pete’s nieces who lived with them at various times after immigrating from Greece. Pete Blentson was the son of Angelo Blentson and immigrated in 1907. The 1930 census found him living on Main Street in Woodstock with four other Greek men who were all working as waiters in a restaurant. The restaurant was called the New York Restaurant which opened in Woodstock in 1922. Pete eventually bought his partners out and operated the establishment until his death. Pete married Rena P. Pappas (1900-1973) in 1931, and by 1950, the census found the couple still on Main Street and raising two children, Angelo (19 years old) and Helen (18 years old). After he died, his son, Angelo, opened the Blue Star Diner on the southern end of town. That establishment was later moved to Newport News by the family where it continued to exist for many additional years. The building that housed the New York Restaurant was eventually torn down to make room for the current Circuit Court building in Woodstock.
