Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate. Grace was from Edinburg, the second child born to John Conway (1884-1942) and Cara Mabel (Downey) (1889-1947) Hutchinson. Her father was a travelling salesman born in Fredericksburg, Virginia. She married a divorced man, Adrian Garrett Carter, Jr. in 1937. Adrian was born in Sheridan, Wyoming, the son of Adrian Garrett Carter Sr. and Charlotte M. (Conner) Carter. He lived in Dundalk, Maryland, and worked for the Bethlehem Steel Company, when he married Grace in Edinburg. In 1940, the couple had a young son and lived in the Parkville area of Baltimore, Maryland. There, Grace’s husband worked as a shipping clerk in a shipyard. Their marriage did not last. The 1950 census found Grace, separated, living on High Street in Edinburg and working as a beautician in a beauty shop. Three young children and her widowed uncle lived with her. The couple formally divorced in 1955. When she died, Grace left behind a son, Gary Carter, and two daughters, Susan (Carter) Mayer, and Emily (Carter) Koon.
