Published in the Shenandoah Herald on May 20, 1969 as part of their "Country Kitchens" series. Cleda Orndorff was born August 9 1888 in Zepp Virginia where she would live her entire life. In 1915 she married Grover Cleveland Conner, a farmer in the community. They had one daughter, Annabelle Conner, and three sons Willard, Marshall, and Joseph. Cleda worked hard during her farm life raising animals, canning, making her own butter, and baking bread among other things. In a 1969 Shenandoah Herald article she stated "Lots of hard work, but I enjoyed it." She was also active in the Zepp home demonstration group, having hosted their first meeting in 1934, the Cedar Creek Christian Church, the Christian Women's Fellowship, and the Cedar Creek Community Center. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public.
