She was a 1948 graduate of Woodstock High School and worked for many years at the Walton and Smoot Pharmacy in Woodstock before she retired. The two had met when they were only seven and five years old as they grew up as neighbors. Paul worked as a statistician for the University of Virginia's athletic programs for over 58 years. Due to his exemplary service, selfless commitment and extraordinary impact on the Cavalier football program he was awarded the Order of the Crossed Sabres. He lived in Lynchburg, Virginia, when he died. Paul and his wife raised five children: Jackie, Paul Jr., Clark, Joni, and Kent Wisman. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate. She is sitting in studio and wearing a long dress with ruffled sleeves. Pauline was the daughter of William Arthur (1883-1956) and Ernestine Estelle (Huffman) (1882-1969) Beydler, a farming couple who lived in the Johnston District of the county throughout the 1920’s and 1930’s. After completing two years of high school, Pauline married Melvin Franklin Spitler (1909-1978) in June 1935. He was from Frederick County and the couple lived there after they married. The 1940 census found “Polly” Spitler raising two young children while her husband drove a truck for a lumber company. Ten years later Melvin worked as a mechanic in a machinery company and the family had three children: James W., Mary M. and Martha J. Pauline lived more than twenty years after her husband died.
