Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Court Street in Woodstock after several years of working in the area as a travelling photographer. Between that time, and the time his grandson James Morrison closed the studio in 1988, the Morrison family captured thousands of portraits, landscapes, and buildings on film and glass negatives. In 1999 the Shenandoah County Historical Society acquired over 31,000 of these negatives from the estate of local collector Charles D. Bauserman. Volunteers from the historical society worked over the next several decades to house, number, and scan each image. This effort resulted in over two tons of Morrison plates and negatives being processed and digitized. This collection contains those digitized versions of these photographs. Through a partnership between the historical society and the Shenandoah County Library's Truban Archives access to a growing number of these images is available to the public. Current projections indicate the full collection will be available for viewing sometime in 2028. This collection does contain some images of a sexual and/or graphic nature that some viewers may find inappropriate. The photograph on the left is of Emily Isabel (Hollar) Linaweaver. She was born in Woodstock, the daughter of Lester Granville and Mazie Irene (Lambert) Hollar. She had a career as a licensed practical nurse retiring from Shenandoah Memorial Hospital. The photograph on the right is her husband, Robert L. Linaweaver. His parents were Lawrence Lawson and Essie (Brill) Linaweaver. Robert served in the Airborne Division of the U.S. Army from May 1943 to Dec 1945. When he married, he was a service station operator in Edinburg. The couple married in 1946 and raised five children: Robert Jr., Sue, Rebecca, William, and Richard “Dicky”. Shipe, photographed as young children. Robert and Lesta were the two oldest children born to Albert and Eunice (Tamkin) Shipe. They were from Fort Valley. The Richmond Times Dispatch newspaper published a short article on March 17, 1937 (page 20) related to Lesta's death from burns she received when she was just "eleven" years old. She had been working near the kitchen stove wearing an apron when it caught fire and enveloped her in flames. W. Robert Shipe spent his life in Fort Valley. His first wife was Elsie Lee Fravel.
