Biographical Text

Lived at Ruffner's Mill. In the Virginia Herald and Fredericksburg Advertiser, there was a runaway notice for Ben. In the notice, Ben was described as being five feet and ten inches tall, near sighted, and of mixed ancestry. It was also noted he had multiple suits of clothes. There was a $10 reward for his return.
