Title

M.C. Rickard's Will, Etc.

Subject

Rickard, M.C.
Recording & registration - Virginia - Shenandoah County
Law & legal affairs - Virginia - Shenandoah County

Description

Photograph of two separate legal documents.

The top half of the image is part of a will signed by "M.C. Rickard" from near Calvary on 16 June 1906. The document leaves to Mary E. Howers and her four children the lot at Calvary on which there was a dwelling and other buildings. His own wife would receive the residue of his estate.

The lower half of the image appears to be a hand-written notice, again from M.C. Rickard, signed on January 3, 1916. The note appears to rescind the earlier bequest and says: "This will and testament shall have no power whatever for they have not tride to pay me and Sarah our money back $3.50 the day they bought the peters place thay barred this money and promised I shold not loose one sent of it and have refuse to give anything to show for it they got it through false pretense."
