He was one of several children born to Charlie Robert (1890-1968) and Ida Denetha (Combs) (1889-1955) Wetzel.
When he registered for the WWII draft, he worked for his father and lived in rural Woodstock. He was described as being 5’7” tall and 154 pounds.
Lawrence died unexpectedly of what was diagnosed as “Uraemia”, a kidney condition, at the Fravel Hospital in Woodstock. At the time of his death, he was still single and worked as a laborer building houses.
