Title

Irving & Mary (Mumaw) Gochenour

Subject

Gochenour, Irving William (1919-1999)
Gochenour, Mary Catherine Mumaw (1921-2002)

Description

Photograph of Irving and Mary Gochenour when they were young. Mary is wearing a large flower corsage on her lapel. Possibly, this was a wedding photograph.

Irving was born in Woodstock, the son of Oscar Martin (1887-1945) and Lucy May (1893-1992) Gochenour. Mary was the daughter of Romanus Frederick Mumaw and Annie Jane Litten.

Both Irving and May lived in Edinburg when they married in October 1941. Irving was a 25-year old live poultry buyer and huckster while Mary was a 24-year old telephone operator.

The 1950 census found the family living in Madison District of the Shenandoah Valley. Irving was still poultry dealer and Mary C. was no longer working. The couple had a 2-year old son, Jerry, in this record.
