Description

This was a wedding photograph of Tommy and Ida Barrick, taken in 1924, at her brother, Galen Wakeman's, home. The couple was from the Edinburg area.

Tommy’s parents were Thomas Daniel Barrick (1871-1950) and Cora Frances (Wolverton) Barrick (1877-1930), farmers from rural Edinburg.

Ida’s parents were John Ozias (1852-1926) and Sarah Elizabeth (Kline) (1867-1940) Wakeman, farmers from the Madison District of Shenandoah County.

By 1940, the couple owned a farm next to Ida’s brother, Galen, and his family. It was located on State Road 691 (west of Columbia Furnace).

Tommy and Ida had three children together: Frances E. (1926-2013), Grace A. (1928-2013), and Glenn E. (1929-2010).

Both Tommy and Ida are buried in Wakemans Grove Church of the Brethren Cemetery near Edinburg.
